Founded in 1895 as the Montgomery Preparatory School, WVU Tech has a rich history of academic excellence.
WVU Tech consists of two academic colleges: the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences. WVU Tech offers more than 40 academic programs, including 9 ABET-accredited engineering programs. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1 and an average class size of 17 students, our classes provide students with personalized attention in a supportive environment.
As a division of West Virginia University, WVU Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Several academic programs, including engineering, engineering technology, and nursing, hold specialized accreditation.
WVU Tech is located in Beckley, West Virginia, among the picturesque mountains of Appalachia.
The Golden Bears compete in 17 varsity sports.
With more than 40 student organizations, including academic honor societies, Greek life, and intramurals, WVU Tech offers a vibrant campus life. On-campus residents live in one of two co-ed residence halls: Hogan and University.
