INTRODUCTION
While integrating traditional French know-how and the most advanced techniques, the Styling Modeling program is considered the flagship curriculum at IFA Paris. The educational content follows closely the rapid evolution of fashion, allowing students to appropriate all the qualities required by the fashion sector.
Teaching, which is not limited to the traditional lecture course, is complemented by creativity workshops, personal research, company visits and field trips. All this is done in order to arouse curiosity and creativity among students and to train future stylists with a pragmatic attitude and a capacity for analysis. The face-to-face approach in class allows students to develop their personal universe, adapt to different styles and markets and thus prepare for their future professional career in fashion.
Addressing all the phases in the process of fashion creation, the program is able to turn amateurs into professional stylists. It provides students, after their studies, with many possible outlets. Graduates are able to practice as a stylist, model maker, product manager within a company or even freelance stylist.
They can also follow our master program to evolve on functions such as collection manager, artistic director or fashion buyer.

STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM
The program is spread over 3 years. Each year, composed of 30 school weeks (34 in Shanghai), is structured around different teaching modules.
These three years each correspond to a level of study in the context of higher education. Once the studies have been completed, students can obtain 180 ECTS (60 ECTS per year) according to the Bologna agreements.
The program offers students a fashion workshop atmosphere in order to put them into a professional situation as soon as possible. The balance of studies is a good balance between the general assessment and the continuous evaluation in order to strengthen the mastery of the main disciplines and the capacities to organize a project and to manage the time.
Projects, always multidisciplinary, allow students to create bridges between the different subjects and to assimilate all the knowledge and techniques acquired.
1st year: discovery
The first year of the program is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor's degree, at level 4 in a higher education setting. At first, students are introduced to the world of fashion. They will acquire the basic knowledge and techniques concerning styling, modeling, computer graphics, fashion history, in order to establish a solid foundation for the further studies that follow.
Styling 1 In the very first part of the styling module, students learn basic techniques such as: How to draw male / female fashion sketches and technical drawings of different types of clothing?
How to apply the color theory and create a color scheme adapted to the collection?
How to create prints and use them in the collection?
How can we develop an original approach to research and exalt curiosity and creativity?
How to express inspirations and ideas through moodboards, illustrations, stylized figures and complete fashion portfolios?
How to create a collection plan?
Fashion Workshop 1 Fashion creation is not restricted to abstract concepts, it also requires concrete techniques and experiments to realize it. Students will practice different techniques such as dyeing and printing fabrics, create new volumes of clothing and discover the different styles of artists or great designers through the exhibitions. They can then use all these skills in the styling module.
Computer graphics 1 Today, it is essential for stylists to master computer graphics to present their creation in a precise and professional way. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of drawing software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.
Digital Production 1: It is important to keep students in constant contact with the latest changes in the fashion industry. In the production of fashion, the use of the Lectra machine is very widespread, while production with the three-dimensional printing technique is still in the embryo state. However, this technique will inevitably become an unavoidable trend in the industry.
Modeling 1 The production of clothing always goes hand in hand with the creation of fashion. Here two main techniques are discussed: flat cutting and molding. These are two different approaches for building patterns: directly construct the patterns flat with the given measurements of the body, or create volumes on dummy with canvas.
Having devoted two decades to the teaching of modeling, IFA Paris teachers have succeeded in developing an effective pedagogical modeling system so that at the end of the first year the pupils are able to build the patterns of a skirt Base, a shirt and a dress.
Couture 1 The designer must master all the details and finishes of the products he creates. This is why it is important for students to fully understand the entire process of producing a garment. They will be able to experiment with different techniques of assembly and finishing, and to realize complete clothes such as a skirt and a shirt.
Culture and fashion history Knowing the past, understanding the present and creating the future. Like other creative domains, fashion is in itself a culture. It is essential for students to know the history of fashion in order to anticipate its development in the future. With the help of lectures, research and historical archives, students will discover the evolution of fashion and analyze the works, styles and inspirations of the great creators as well as the major trends of the past forty years.
Textile Technology 1: Fabrics always play the role of raw materials in the fashion sector. It is therefore essential for students, future stylists, to deepen their knowledge of the textile world. Teaching, delivered in the form of conferences, research and workshops, allows them to acquire a complete knowledge of textile technology, fibers, and even fabric weaves, from warp and weft to mesh. By perfectly mastering the textures and qualities of different subjects, students are able to make appropriate choices for their projects.
2nd year: experimentation
The second year of the program is equivalent to the second year of a bachelor's degree, at the 5th level, in the context of higher education. Through experimentation, students will deploy their creativity in fashion. Several different themes are discussed, such as man, child and knitting, all of which require multidisciplinary knowledge.
Stylism 2 In this second part of the styling module, students will practice the techniques acquired in the first year and experiment with new inspirations and designs in various projects such as: men's collection, children's collection, accessories and transformed materials. They will need to consider product positioning and market segmentation when creating and incorporating their creativity into the major fashion trends.
Fashion Workshop 2 This part, closely related to the styling module, allows students to experiment with different techniques such as embroidery, pleating and knitting. In this way, they can enrich their creative expression and create more elaborate models. They will have many opportunities to work in partnership with professional suppliers and outside workshops to learn more about supply chain management, which is also essential for a stylist.
Computer graphics 2 This second part serves as a support tool for fashion design and workshop. Strong of experiments, students will be able to judge which software is the most suitable for their collection and their personal needs. The objective is to allow students to find the best tool to create portfolios that reflect their personality.
Modélisme 2 Teaching, based on Modélisme 1, shows students how to combine two-dimensional and three-dimensional techniques, and how to find the best method for constructing patterns of different types of clothing. Students will learn how to build patterns for classic pants, a tailor's jacket, a kimono sleeve or a raglan sleeve. From all these acquired techniques, they will be able to realize the most creative models for their own collection.
Couture 2 As with modeling, this section aims to enable students to practice and choose the best fitting strategy and best finishing technique to improve the quality of finished garments.
Digital Production 2: This module reinforces the skills taught in the first year. As a complement, the students will discourage a 3D graphics software which they will later use in their projects of creation of accessories.
Textile technology 2: The second part of this module taught in the first year will immerse students in an experimental phase. At this stage the students are perfectly familiar with the bases of the composition of materials and textiles regularly used in the fashion industry. The goal is now to develop their critical thinking and creativity by reworking textures and materials to transform basic textiles based on their personal inspiration.
Fashion marketing 1 Although fashion requires creativity, it is also an industry where brand strategy, market segmentation and product positioning play a very important role. In this part, students are introduced to the fundamentals of marketing and the main elements that could contribute to the success of a fashion brand.
3rd year: rooting
The third year of the program is equivalent to the third year of a bachelor's degree, at level 6 in the context of higher education. At the last stage of study, students, as future stylists, have to create a mini-collection, representing their personal universe. They must take care of personal creativity, the modernity of products, the production techniques used and the marketing strategy. The collection is presented as a personal portfolio. The aim is to prepare students for professional integration in the fashion sector. They also have access to the IFA Paris master program, entitled Creation of Contemporary Fashion at the end of this year.
Styling 3 The styling module in the 3rd year revolves around a single focal point: the creation of a professional and complete collection for women or men according to the given subject. Each student will have a personal interpretation of the given subject and will develop his / her own concept on this basis, create fashion sketches and accessories, build a collection plan and prepare the technical sheets for the 4 to 6 products Will realize itself. The end of the year ended with the presentation of his portfolio before a professional jury.
Digital Production 3: This last part consists of providing technical support for the personal creation of student collections.
Modélisme 3 Students are asked to produce 4 to 6 selected products within their collection. They will do volume research first, identify the most effective technique to then build the patterns of the clothes, make adjustments to the patterns after the fitting session and finally finalize the clothes.
Couture 3 Students will have to choose the right materials for their collection. It will be necessary to determine the best techniques of assembly and finishing to implement them in the production of the prototypes. The best collections and prototypes will be selected by the jury and presented at the IFA Paris annual end-of-year parade.
Fashion Marketing 2 By deepening their marketing knowledge, students are asked to determine a marketing strategy for their end-of-course collection, including customer focus, product positioning, distribution and communication strategies.
IFA Paris Placement and Alumni Center During the three years of study, a total of 60 hours per year is devoted to the development of industrial relations as a complementary element to classroom instruction. Conferences given by professionals in the fashion sector, visits to companies, workshops and workshops are organized to promote the professional integration of students. With a large database, the placement center helps them to establish contacts with companies and develop their social and professional relations. The center is also involved in keeping students informed of the latest changes in the fashion world.
