The Biology major at LMU encourages students to develop keen critical and analytical thinking skills and oral and written skills while a providing a strong background in the discipline's core areas and gaining laboratory and field experience. Biology majors are well prepared for a career in the health professions (medicine, dentistry, etc.) as well as careers that span the biological sciences, including environmental biology, organismal biology, microbiology, physiology, molecular and cell biology and plant biology. Additionally, the biology major prepares students for graduate programs in the biological and biomedical sciences. LMU's unique Los Angeles location allows for field studies in a diverse range of ecological habitats, including deserts, mountains, forests, offshore islands, wetlands and beaches.
