Introduction
The Degree Program in Tourism focuses on giving our students the skills and knowledge required in the international tourism industry. Lapland is an international tourism destination that offers a real-life tourism laboratory and unique learning opportunities.
Our Degree Program in Tourism aims at providing the tourism and hospitality industry with managers who know how to balance travelers' expectations for memorable experiences while protecting nature, culture, and the whole planet.
The main emphasis and specialization area in the program is Tourism Management and Experience Design.
In the program-specific studies, we emphasize sustainability, risk management, and other field-related issues related to the tourism business.
Contemporary marketing, including eCommerce and product development, as well as various language and cultural studies, have an important role in the degree program.
We work in close connection with the local tourism business. The Degree Program in Tourism also has specific tourism companies in the area with which we have deeper cooperation, e.g., various projects and other study-related assignments.
In addition, we arrange company visits, trips, visiting lectures and other activities together with the working life.
You can expand your professional skills in practice in your training periods. The degree includes 30 ECTS of practical training which can also be completed outside Finland. Training enables you to create valuable networks and connections to tourism companies and other organizations in the field.
Follow the fast track to get your degree!
You can also apply for recognition of your previous skills and competencies at the very beginning of your studies. In addition, if you are working at the same time as your studies, it is possible for you to complete your studies in the working life through the process of pedagogisation of work. These options make it even possible for you to finish your studies within 2–2.5 years.
MTI offers you individual learning paths
