Introduction
The Performance Option at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film provides foundational actor training within an innovative curriculum.
All courses in the acting curriculum focus on bridging the gap between the theoretical and the practical. In your first two years of study your core theatre requirements create a foundation of working theatrical knowledge. As an ensemble, all performance option students perform 10-minute plays, develop characters through scene work, and have the opportunity to apply their work on the professional stage. At the end of your first year you’ll perform an audition for the performance faculty to receive immediate feedback on your progress.
In the second two years of study, your coursework becomes specialized. Advanced courses in stage combat, period styles, classical text, accents and dialects, audition technique, and acting for the camera form a scheme of elective topics which allow you hone your unique, individual skills and to prepare you for professional work.
