Introduction
Wind turbine technicians are needed immediately as the wind industry seeks to find qualified workers to service wind farms across the country. Mitchell Technical College's Wind Turbine Technology is well-known in the industry with a history of producing qualified, desirable graduates to fill these jobs. If you are looking for a career that will take you to new heights, consider enrolling!
This two-year program allows students to learn about the basics of turbines, mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, and the computer networks that allow the system to communicate. Unique hands-on experiences are available to students as they climb Mitchell Tech’s wind turbine located at the Crow Lake Wind Farm near White Lake, SD. Mitchell Tech is one of only a few schools nationwide to have an operational 1.5 MW wind turbine.
The second year of the program gives graduates experience in composites, motor controls, power generation, SCADA concepts, and more.
A graduate will find employment opportunities in many areas like turbine maintenance, siting, blade manufacturing, and more.
