Introduction
The Marine Biology Program is recognized for its quality through national quality accreditation carried out by an accreditation body, recognized by the Council for the Evaluation of Higher Education, COPAES, AC
Therefore, the graduate will have the technical and theoretical capacity to propose:
- Strategies for the study of marine biological diversity
- Prepare diagnoses on the state of conservation of marine ecosystems
- Propose management guidelines for the species and marine-coastal ecosystems
- Establish guidelines and strategies to restore marine environments and recover endangered species.
Mission
The Bachelor of Marine Biology program has the Mission of training professionals with a comprehensive profile and ethical values that give them the competence to generate knowledge and understand the biological processes of marine organisms, which lead to the proper management of marine biological resources, as well as to detect and propose production strategies and collaborate in the social and cultural development of the different sectors, preserving the marine environment within the framework of sustainable development.
Vision
It is expected that by the year 2030 the Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences, Zona Poza Rica Tuxpan of the Universidad Veracruzana will enjoy national and international prestige based on its teaching, research and knowledge dissemination activities, particularly in the area of Marine Biology . For this, it will train trained professionals and develop research programs to address the problems of the marine environment in relation to biodiversity, production and management.
The Marine Biology program will be certified by Higher Education accrediting bodies and this will allow it to offer quality services to society with the highest ethical and professional level, thus maintaining a permanent link with the different social sectors. Among the elements that will favor this Vision, there will be a full-time teaching staff with diversified workload and 100% postgraduate, of these at least 30% will belong to the SNI and 100% will have PROMEP profile recognition. In addition, all the professors will be integrated into academic bodies that will be incorporated into national and international networks. 50% of the graduates of this degree will accredit the general professional quality exam and of these, 50% will achieve recognition of high performance.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To train professionals in an integral way, competent to approach the study of marine organisms and processes that allow continuous learning, with human and socially responsible quality in order to solve problems related to biodiversity and the production of related goods and services. to marine environments.
Intellectual objective
Promote the development of logical, critical and creative thinking based on permanent learning, innovative, creative and entrepreneurial development that allows the student to generate and acquire new knowledge related to marine biology to find solutions to problems related to biodiversity and conservation. production of goods and services related to marine ecosystems and their components, interacting with multi and interdisciplinary groups.
Human Objective
Promote and cultivate ethical attitudes and principles that define the values of integrity, respect for nature, equity, responsibility and commitment that contribute to personal growth in all its manifestations.
Social Objective
Contribute to the strengthening of values and attitudes that facilitate the integration of the individual into work groups to interact, coexist and work as a team, expressing freedom of expression, plurality and respect, conducting ourselves responsibly to solve the problems of marine ecosystems and their components.
Professional objective
Offer the student the educational experiences that allow them to obtain and develop the theoretical, heuristic and axiological knowledge that support the know-how of the Graduate in Marine Biology, so that they face the challenges in this area with quality and ethics that allow them to join the sectors private and public in their professional area.
Graduation profile
- Determine the strategies to study marine biodiversity and prepare diagnoses on their health status.
- Identify problems in marine ecosystems and organisms
- Formulate and develop research programs in marine environments to lead to their sustainable development.
- Have the basic conceptual and methodological tools to study marine organisms and the ecosystems where they live.
- Generate innovative and efficient proposals for the management of marine organisms and ecosystems, promoting a culture of respect for living beings.
- Promote the production of goods and services from marine ecosystems.
