The BSc Psychology degree at Cardiff Met is professionally accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), offering you the opportunity to study an industry-approved psychology course that is highly regarded by employers.
BPS accreditation means you can gain Graduate and/or Chartered Membership of the Society upon graduation - enhancing your CV, maximizing your career prospects and providing you with a platform to progress to specialist postgraduate Psychology courses.
In your first and second years, you will be given an introduction to the areas of Social and Developmental Psychology, as well as research methods and data analysis. In the third year you have the opportunity to specialise in the area of psychology that interests you. Specialist areas can include Clinical Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Health Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Social Psychology, Exercise Psychology and more.
You will have the opportunity to undertake work placements and volunteering in a wide range of settings to maximize your practical experience. Past placements have included working with vulnerable young adults at Safer Wales; working with children in secondary schools in a mentoring capacity; in forensic, clinical and health settings, shadowing professionals in areas such as the probation service and hospitals.

Entry Requirements & How to Apply
Applicants should have five GCSEs including English Language (or Welsh First Language), Mathematics* and Science at grade C or above / grade 4 or above (for applicants holding newly reformed GCSEs in England) plus 112 points from at least 3 A levels (or equivalent). Typical offers may include:
- 112 points from at least three A levels to include grades BC; or A level grades CCC along with the Welsh Baccalaureate – Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate at grade C
RQF BTEC National Extended Diploma / Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma DMM
- 112 points from the Scottish Advanced Highers to include grades CD
- 112 points from the Irish Leaving Certificate at Highers to include three H2 grades. Higher level subjects only considered with a minimum grade H4
- 112 points from the Access to Higher Education Diploma
*For Welsh applicants sitting the reformed Mathematics GCSE, we will accept either GCSEMathematics or Mathematics – Numeracy.
