Introduction
The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering lasts for 4 years, i.e. 8 semesters, and is equivalent to 240 ECTS credits. Each study year is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits. The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering comprises core and elective courses, whose completion provides the necessary academic knowledge and skills for acquiring the professional degree of Bachelor with Honours in Mechanical Engineering (abbreviated: BME (Hons)). This degree corresponds to the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree awarded by foreign higher education institutions.
The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering contains 22 core courses, compulsory professional practice B, 17 elective courses (selected by a student from the available elective blocks) and the undergraduate thesis. The total involvement of students in completing the study program of undergraduate academic studies consists of active teaching (lectures, tutorials, other forms of active teaching), independent work, mid-term tests, exams and professional practice. The basic aim of the study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering is to offer students academic knowledge and skills which correspond to the academic degree of Bachelor with Honours in Mechanical Engineering, as well as educate students on how to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in the scientific and professional field of mechanical engineering. This also includes developing creative abilities of problem consideration, critical thinking, teamwork and specific practical skills necessary for this profession.
