Introduction
Montessori Education
Dr Montessori's philosophy and method of education have been known and highly respected in Ireland for the past century. Her seamless blending of intellectual, concrete, aesthetic, relevant and meaningful experiences for children has influenced a host of curricula, practices, policies and initiatives regarding environments which support the holistic development of children.
The St. Nicholas Montessori B.Ed. in Montessori Education is Ireland's premier early years' degree, kickstarting the careers of 1000's of Montessori teachers and early years professionals.
Graduates of the BEd in Montessori Education find employment as advanced practitioners in Early Childhood in the following roles:
- Teachers in Montessori Early Childhood care or educational settings;
- Members of a work-force in ECEC settings, which include direct work with children, and supervision and management roles;
- Owner/managers in privately owned Montessori Early Childhood settings;

Mode of Study
Programmes are delivered in our Dun Laoghaire campus, just a few minutes walk from the DART station. Some modules or parts of modules may also be delivered online via web conferencing, or live lectures online.
Placement takes place each year and this can be arranged in schools throughout the country (additional fees may apply for placements in settings outside a 50km radius of Dun Laoghaire).
Full-time
The full-time programme is delivered Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 4 pm.
Part-time
The part-time programme runs in the evenings and at weekends. Typically you will be required to attend two evenings per week + Saturday. Part-time is only available to EU/Irish students or those who do not require a Stamp 2 visa to study in Ireland.
