American Bachelor's degree: Communication and Mass Media
The aim of the program Bachelor's study Communication and Mass Media Is to help students become highly qualified, universal and independent thinkers with experience in professional research, a high level of information literacy, and equip them with the communication and interpersonal skills needed for a top career or for further academic studies in Master's or PhD Programs at media schools. Bachelor program of mass media and communication Is aimed at building a creative interdisciplinary interrelation between disciplines that are designed to help individuals with a broad knowledge and knowledge base develop their ability to apply their knowledge, skills and attitudes creatively, flexibly and in a broad cultural and social context. Bachelor's degree Is awarded by our partner university, Empire State College (ESC), State University of New York. Students have the opportunity to complete state exams at the end of their studies and, if successful, receive both a US diploma from the Empire State College (BA) and a bachelor's degree from UNYP (Bc.). This is possible thanks to the fact that this program of public realtions and media communications is fully accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, and this is a study with a double diploma.
The main emphasis is on exploring and understanding the dynamics of communication in language, media and culture, both theoretically and in a practical context. This interdisciplinary program was developed in response to the growing demand of the company for college educated people who understand the processes, effects and cultural implications of communication in the information society.
The main objectives of this study program are:
- Provide students with world-class education that develops critical conceptual understanding as well as analytical skills, technical skills and the ability to research and research, and which will then enable them to engage in practice in one of the professions or occupational areas built on communication;
- Develop professional and technical skills within a wider framework of structured thinking, social awareness and critical and ethical reflection;
- To place this education in the context of an interdisciplinary, collaborative and international learning environment, enabling students to work on their own understanding and their own skills to be able to contribute to this environment in order to be flexible, adaptable, creative and tolerant of the social and working environment, Which is characterized by convergence and change.
UNYP is a high quality school of media communication and public relations. This program deals with the analysis of a wide range of communication and cultural practices, How individuals and groups use these practices, and how to respond to them. Part of the program is exploring what constitutes identity, and exploring the means that make it clear. The subject of study is also the complexity of relations between communication, information and power. Students deal with the structures, forms and effects of communication activities, and the subject of study is, for example, Such as language, film or photography.
The Media Communication course emphasizes the development of communication skills using standard organizational and interpersonal communication modules as well as professional modules through media writing for different areas, For newspapers, radio or television broadcasts and for public relations and advertising. Through practice and project work, as well as during teaching, seminars and work in the studio, students acquire skills that are transferable and applicable in a wide range of professional working environments.
The emphasis on professional applications is further reflected in areas of specialization within the main media communications field. In the third year of study, students have the opportunity to choose and study a number of different courses focused on three main areas, which are aimed at developing practical skills: 1) media writing; 2) public relations; And 3) advertising. These areas serve to combine theory and application to provide students with a solid professional foundation of professional theory and practice to prepare them for their future professional use.
Program graduates will be able to use their theoretical knowledge and skills they have gained during their research, their application skills, and in many cases also the practical experience of internships and / or project work, and will continue to develop as people creative, able to apply in solving problems Of today's global market its lateral thinking. Our graduates are continuing their studies at universities in Australia, the United States or the United Kingdom and other European Union countries. Program Outcome
Degrees
This degree is awarded by the State University of New York, Empire State College. Students can also sit for Czech state exams at the end of their studies, and receive a degree from UNYP (bakalář - Bc.) accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education.
